"The
journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
- Chinese proverb
The history of a nation was forever changed this October
9th as millions of Afghan citizens voted in the countries first
ever democratic elections. After a millennium of tribal feudalism
and the cruel repressive rule of the Taliban, the people of Afghanistan
have tasted the sweet waters from that oasis called - freedom.
The journey will be long and the outcome undetermined, but the United
States has once again smashed the gates of tyranny and opened the
way for a future generation. With Iraq posed to cross the threshold
of democracy, this will be the largest (since Ronald Reagan shattered
the Soviet Union) deliverance of a peoples from the shackles
of bondage. More importantly, in this writer's opinion, this will
mark one of the most significant triumphs for human and civil rights
as well as histories single greatest liberation of woman.
May God bless the men who fought to make this possible.
May God bless the President.
May Allah protect his newly freed servants.
And always,
May Gold Bless America!
